5 Interior Design Mistakes:
Your rug is too small
When using a rug in the room make sure that the rug is big enough to fit all of your furniture on it. If that’s not possible at least make sure to have the front leg of furniture sitting on the rug (i.e. sofa and chairs).
Your room is missing drapes
Using drapes will give you an instant luxurious look and take your room design up a notch. Drapes do not have to be expensive, you can always get drapes at an affordable price at Target or Ikea, just make sure to press them before you hang them.
Make sure to always use full length drapes.
Your drapes are not high enough
Back to the beautiful drapes, make sure to hang your drapes as close to the ceiling as you can and have it touch the ground, don’t hang drapes right above the window. Hanging them from the ceiling will instantly make your room feel bigger and the ceiling will feel higher, plus it will add an elegant look to the room.
Your Artwork is either too high or too low
When is comes to hanging your artwork the center of your artwork should be at eye level of an average person.
If you are creating a whole wall of pictures and artwork, then choose a center piece and have the center of that piece at eye level, then start building around it. Make sure to use the same spacing above and below that center point to create balance.
Your furniture is too big or too small for your space
When you buy furniture make sure to measure your space and pick items that fit perfectly without blocking your circulation path. Be sure that your items are not too small as they will get lost in your big space.
The best way to do that is to tape the shape and size of your furniture on the ground to get a better vision and feeling of the space.
