By: Lubbi Saed, IOD Interior Designer
Everyone deserves a beautiful home that is cozy and stylish, but you don’t have to spend a fortune to make your home look like a million dollars.
Below are some easy and affordable interior design tips and tricks that will help you achieve that “luxury hotel” feeling in your home.
Declutter
The first important tip when it comes to interior design is to declutter. The less things you have, the more neat and sophisticated your home will feel. Have you ever asked yourself why hotel rooms look very luxurious and crisp? The answer is simple, it’s clutter free! You only have the necessary items you need to make your stay comfortable.
Good Movement
Don’t block your movement. When arranging your furniture make sure not to block the circulation in your space by placing a huge sofa in the way or creating weird angles with too many pieces of furniture.
Cohesive Colors
Keep the flow, if you have a color palette, carry it around your space to create a cohesive look.
If you are using a natural color palette, make sure to include texture in your design, like adding a silk rug with velvet throw pillows and a wicker basket with brass candle holders.
Fresh Smells
Make sure your house smells good, by opening your windows early in the morning, taking out the trash and doing your laundry everyday. Don’t use plug in to make your house smell good, instead light up a candle or bake some cookies.
Make Your Bed
Make your bed every morning, there is nothing better than a tidy bedroom. Studies have shown that people who make their beds tend to be happier and more productive.
Clean Bathroom
Clean your bathrooms daily. You can keep the deep cleaning to twice a week, but make sure to wipe your bathroom countertop and floors daily. Tidy up your bathroom & hide your makeup and hair product inside your drawers and cabinets.
Add Plants
Add greenery. Greenery is the magic touch to making your home look luxurious and alive.
They are very easy to get and they come in different shades and textures that can match your décor.
Rugs and Curtains
If you want your home to feel cozy and calm, make sure to use rugs and curtains. Rugs and curtains will minimize the noise and give you the warm cozy feeling.
Bring On The Lighting
Lighting is very important when it comes to decorating your home. If you have big windows, then you are lucky! Let that sunshine in to brighten your room. If your windows are not big and you don’t have enough of natural light, make sure to layer your lighting by adding chandeliers, floor lamps and table lamps.
