Home Update on a budget
Whether you are updating your house to sell or you are updating it to stay and enjoy it, there are simple things you can do that will increase the value of your house. You can accomplish this even on a limited budget and you don’t have to spend a fortune.
Update Your Kitchen:
The easiest and cheapest way to update your home is by painting. Picking a natural color will give your home a timeless look, while keeping it elegant.
Start by sanding and painting existing cabinets. This option is much less expensive than buying new ones, leaving room in your budget to improve other areas of the kitchen. If you have the budget you can change your counter top and update the hardware, sink and fixture as well. If you are willing to splurge even more, adding a back splash and replacing your appliances will give you a great updated kitchen.
Update Your Bathroom:
Replace the old floor with fresh tile in ceramic or stone, if you pick tiles with print, choose a small print to give the illusion of bigger space.
Just like the kitchen, giving the walls a fresh natural coat of paint and painting your cabinets will update the look. Give the old vanity a facelift with a new counter top for a clean fresh look.
A Quick Facelift:
Paint the rest of the house, nothing will beat a new light fresh coat of paint when it comes to brightening up your home and taking it up a notch.
Paint your doors and trims. Depending on your style and your homes style paint your doors and trims either white or black.
Update your light fixtures. Lowe’s or Home Depot have a great selection of affordable light fixtures to help you stay within your budget.
Exterior improvement:
Paint the front door and trims with a light bright color, for an updated look; remove old awnings from windows and doors. Swap damaged wrought-iron railings for real wood supports for a more inviting entry.
Create a charming porch by adding a pergola and columns.
If you already have a porch, make sure all railings are safe and attractive. Adding decorative planters on the front patio, porch and decks will bring nature to your door step and add bright beautiful colors.
